Monster Theatre presents THE CANADA SHOW: the Complete History of Canada in One Hour
February 22nd to February 27th, 2010
This February, just in time for the 2010 Olympics, Monster Theatre will bring back its longest running and most celebrated creation, THE CANADA SHOW for a special one-week run as part of Granville Island’s Winterruption Festival.
In an action-packed sixty minutes, Monster Theatre takes you on a hysterically historical joy ride through 50,000 years of Canada. Through physical comedy, puppetry, and an original live score, THE CANADA SHOW reveals parts of our history few knew existed!
Monster Theatre’s take on Canadian history is told from the point of view of three bickering “historians” – one English (Bruce Horak), one French (Ryan Gladstone), and one just trying to keep the whole thing together (Jeff Gladstone), and has had audiences busting a gut from coast to coast since 2001. Special appearances from Leonard Cohen, William Shatner, Mr. Dressup, the McKenzie brothers and other Canadian cultural icons will not disappoint! THE CANADA SHOW includes hits like the “who’s on first” team of Cabot and Costello, Jacques Cartier Puppets, Leonard Cohen’s 'Nobody Knows', ‘A Conscription’ Carol’ starring William Lyon MacKenzie King, the Chicks of Canada, the FLQ crisis as a Hockey Game, and, of course, a giant dancing beaver.
