The Scotiabank Dance Centre is located at the corner of Davie and Granville. PARKING: There is street (metre) parking and lot parking nearby. The nearest lot parking is behind the Howard Johnson hotel next to the Dance Centre. You access the parking lot through the alley on Davie or Helmcken. ABOUT: Established in 1986 as a resource centre for the dance profession and the public in British Columbia, The Dance Centre has evolved into a multifaceted organization offering a range of activities unparalleled in Canadian dance. Seeking to boost the profile of dance, and to develop a stronger infrastructure for the artform, The Dance Centre devises programs and projects; manages Scotiabank Dance Centre, Canada’s flagship dance facility; promotes BC dance to the public and to presenters; and provides resources and services for the dance profession. Scotiabank Dance Centre opened in September 2001 in the heart of downtown Vancouver, a stunning $10.5 million (CAN) state-of-the-art project designed by Architectura in collaboration with the renowned Canadian architect Arthur Erickson, and a major development in the history of dance in Canada. The 32,000 sq ft, seven storey, glass-enclosed building is believed to be unique in North America: a purpose-built, shared use facility, which will provide a diverse dance community with a new home and also raise the profile of dance in the city and beyond.
